Margin calculator FAQ

What's the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a share of the selling price; markup is profit as a share of cost. A product costing 100 sold at 150 has a 33.3% margin and a 50% markup.

What's a good profit margin?

It depends on the category — groceries often run 10–25%, clothing and accessories 40–60%. Watch your own numbers per product rather than a universal rule.

Can Cashvio track this automatically?

Yes — it records cost and profit on every sale and shows margin per product in the profit report, on the free plan.
