Creating Orders (New Sale)

Open the full-screen sale screen, browse the catalogue, build the cart, and take payment at the register.

Opening the Sale Screen

There are several ways to start a sale:

  • Click the New Sale button, which is always pinned in the sidebar.
  • Use the New Sale quick action on the Dashboard.
  • On mobile, tap the round New Sale button in the center of the bottom bar.
  • If you installed Cashvio as an app, long-press the app icon and choose New Sale to jump straight to the register.

The sale screen opens in full-screen mode, designed for fast, touch-friendly selling at the counter.

Note

If you have multiple stores, you will be asked to choose the store first. The catalogue, prices, and payment methods all follow the selected store.

From the top bar you can also open Today at this store for a quick look at today's revenue, orders, and cash vs non-cash for the store you are selling from. See Today at This Store.

The Catalogue Panel

The main area of the screen shows your products as tiles:

  1. Browse by category: Use the category bar to filter products.
  2. Search: Find products by name using the search field.
  3. Tap a product to add it to the cart. If the product has multiple variants (size, color, etc.), a variant picker opens so you can choose the right one.
  4. Out-of-stock products are indicated on the tile, and stock limits are enforced when adding to the cart.

To add items with a USB or Bluetooth scanner or your device camera, see Barcode Scanning on New Sale.

The Cart (Ticket)

The cart panel shows everything about the current sale: customer, fulfillment method, line items, and the running total. On mobile, the cart appears as a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to open the full cart drawer.

From the cart you can attach a customer, apply coupons and manual discounts, add service or delivery fees, and sell custom items that are not in your catalogue. See Cart, Discounts, and Fees for the full walkthrough.

Taking Payment

When the cart is ready, tap Charge / Checkout to open the payment dialog. Choose cash, online, receipt, or store credit, take partial or scheduled payments, or skip payment for pickup and delivery orders that will be paid later.

See Taking Payment and After the Sale for payment methods, store credit, partial payments, and what happens on the success screen.
