Add a New Product

Create products with Quick Add or the full wizard: product info, variants, images, and store-specific pricing.

Use this guide to add products from Catalogue > Products. For an overview of viewing, editing, and duplicating products, see Products.

Tip

Set up your categories and options before creating products. This makes the product creation process faster and more organized.

How to Add a New Product

  1. Go to Catalogue > Products in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add New Product.
  3. Choose your creation method:
    • Quick Add: A simplified form for name, category, and price. The SKU is auto-generated from the name (Arabic names stay readable).
    • Full Form: A multi-step wizard for products with variants and detailed configuration

On New Sale, you can also open Quick Add Product from the catalogue menu, or when you scan a barcode that is not in your catalogue yet (the scanned code is saved as the product's barcode).

Step 1: Selling Essentials

The form opens with what a product needs before it can be sold. Fill in the basic details:

FieldDescription
Product NameThe name of the product
CategoryThe category this product belongs to

Step 2: Variants and Pricing

Add the product's variants. Each variant is added manually with Add Another Variant, or generated in bulk with Generate from Options when you have options configured. A product can have up to 100 variants in total.

When you use Generate from Options, select the option values to combine. If the combination count exceeds 100, deselect some values and generate in smaller groups, or add remaining variants manually until you reach the limit.

For each variant, set:

FieldDescription
SKUA unique stock keeping unit code (auto-suggested from the product name, including Arabic names; editable). Your internal reference for the variant.
BarcodeThe scannable code on the product, kept separate from the SKU like real retail systems do. It matches the SKU until you change it. Type the manufacturer's number (EAN/UPC), press the Generate barcode wand to get a unique in-store retail number, or clear it if the variant has no barcode. Used by barcode labels and POS scanning.
Option ValuesThe option values that identify this variant (e.g., "L / Red")
Selling PriceThe price the customer pays
Cost PriceYour cost to acquire the product (needed for accurate profit reports)
Unit of MeasureHow the product is sold: Piece, Kilogram, Liter, Meter, Square Meter, Cubic Meter, or Unit
Max Quantity per OrderOptional cap on how many a customer can buy in one order (empty = unlimited)

Important

Cost Price is essential for profit reporting. Without accurate cost prices, profit calculations in the Reports section will be incorrect.

Step 3: Tax

Set the tax inputs:

FieldDescription
Tax CategoryStandard VAT (with a tax rate) or Exempt (no tax)
Tax RateThe tax percentage applied to this product (shown for Standard VAT)
Tax IncludedToggle to indicate if the selling price already includes tax

For how tax works after creation, see Tax and inventory.

Step 4: Description and Images

Optional storefront content, a product can be sold without filling this in.

  • Description: A rich-text description for your online store
  • Multiple Images: Add several images per product
  • Primary Image: The first image is the main image shown in product lists and on the storefront

Tip

Use high-quality images. They make a big difference on your online store.

Step 5: Additional Configuration (Optional)

The rarely-changed settings sit collapsed in the Additional Configuration section at the bottom of the form, with their current values summarized in one line, for example "Active · Stock tracked · In online store", so you do not have to open it to know where things stand:

FieldDescription
StatusActive or Inactive (see Product Statuses)
Track InventoryWhether to track stock levels for this product (turn off for services or made-to-order items). Set only at creation; it cannot be changed later.
Available on Online StoreOn by default. Turn it off to keep the product out of your online store and sell it in-store only. You can change this any time.

If one of these fields has a validation problem, the section opens on its own so the error is never hidden behind a closed section.

Step 6: Store-Specific Pricing (Multi-Store)

If you have multiple stores, you can set different prices for each store:

  1. After creating the product, go to the Pricing section.
  2. Click Add Store Price.
  3. Select the store and enter the selling price for that store.
  4. Repeat for each store that should have a different price.

If no store-specific price is set, the product uses the default selling price for all stores.

Click Save to create the product.
