Kitchen Board

Run open dine-in, pickup, and delivery tickets on a live kitchen board: items, notes, elapsed-time colors, and new-ticket sound alerts.

The Kitchen board is a full-screen view for the kitchen or expo station. It shows open tickets with line items, refreshes on its own, and lets staff move each order to the next fulfillment status without opening the full order page.

Enable Cafe/Restaurant Mode first

Kitchen, Dine-In, and table numbers sit behind Cafe/Restaurant Mode, which is off by default. Turn it on in Settings > Features (or during Feature selection when you set up your account). Until then, Sales > Kitchen does not appear.

Open the board

  1. Go to Sales > Kitchen in the sidebar (or open the Kitchen tab under Sales).
  2. If you have more than one store, pick the store you want to watch.
  3. Leave the page open on a tablet or second screen near the kitchen.

Who can use it

You need permission to view orders to open the board. Advancing a ticket needs permission to edit orders. If the page or the advance button is missing, ask an admin to update your role.

What each ticket shows

Tickets are grouped by fulfillment status, typically Preparing and Ready. Each card includes:

DetailWhy it matters
Order numberMatch the ticket to the POS or online order
Table numberShown for dine-in orders when set, so runners know where to deliver
Fulfillment methodDine-In, Pickup, or Delivery
Elapsed timeHow long the ticket has been waiting (color changes as it ages; see below)
Line itemsQuantity and product name for every item
Item notesKitchen instructions under a line (for example no sugar), when the cashier added them on New Sale
Order notesWhole-order comments, when set

In-store walk-up sales do not appear here. Those complete at the counter with no kitchen tracking.

Elapsed time colors

Each ticket shows how long it has been open since it was created. The elapsed badge changes color so slow tickets stand out at a glance:

StageWhenColor
FreshUnder 5 minutesDefault text
Warning5 minutes or moreWarning (amber)
Critical15 minutes or moreError (red)

Leave the board open so the timer keeps updating while staff cook.

New ticket sound

When a new kitchen ticket appears on the board, Cashvio can play a short Kitchen new ticket alert tone in the browser.

Turn sounds on or off and pick the tone under Settings > Account in the In-app sounds section (notification sounds). Enable In-app sounds on the kitchen device, and leave volume up.

Browser audio unlock

Most browsers block sound until someone clicks or taps the page once. After you open Sales > Kitchen, tap anywhere on the board (or use a settings preview) so audio can play. Keep the kitchen page open on that tablet or screen.

Advance a ticket

On each card, tap the primary button to move the order to the next fulfillment status (for example Preparing to Ready, then Ready to Completed).

You can still jump statuses or cancel from Order Details if you need a non-sequential change. The board is built for the fast path on the line.

Refresh and polling

The board refetches about every 5 seconds while the page is open, so new POS and online tickets appear without a manual reload. You can also leave the page and reopen it to force a fresh load.

Tips for cafes

  • Set a table number when you know it (on New Sale or later on Order Details). It is optional; tickets still appear without one. See Cart, Discounts, and Fees.
  • Add item notes on New Sale for mods the kitchen must see (no sugar, extra shot). They appear on the ticket under that line.
  • Scope a service fee to dine-in only (for example 12%) under Service Fees.
  • Enable Dine-In for the portal (and the storefront if guests order for dine-in online) under Fulfillment Methods. The storefront does not collect a table number.
