Hold and Resume Tickets
Hold a ticket on New Sale while you serve the next customer without losing the cart. Resume or discard from the top bar; up to 20 held tickets per register on this device.
When a customer steps away or you need to ring up someone else first, hold saves the current ticket on this register. The cart clears so you can start a fresh sale. Nothing is charged and nothing hits the kitchen until you resume and complete payment.
Hold a ticket
- Open New Sale and add at least one item to the ticket.
- Tap Hold on the ticket panel.
- Optionally type a label (for example a name or table number) so you can spot it later.
- Confirm. The cart empties and you can serve the next customer on the same screen.
The held ticket stays on this register and this browser. Other stations at the store do not see it.
Resume a held ticket
- On New Sale, tap the held tickets icon in the top bar.
- Pick the ticket you want (check the label, item count, or time if you saved several).
- Tap Resume. The cart loads with the saved lines, customer, notes, and discounts from the snapshot.
- If the current ticket already has items, Cashvio asks you to confirm replace. Resuming replaces the open cart; it does not merge two tickets.
Finish the sale normally (payment, receipt, kitchen) after you resume.
Discard a held ticket
Open the held tickets list from the top bar, select the ticket you no longer need, and tap Discard. Confirm when prompted. Discarding removes the snapshot only; it never creates a refund because no order was submitted.
Not a submitted order
Hold saves a cart snapshot, not an order. Reports, order history, and the kitchen board stay unchanged until you charge. Resume, adjust if needed, then take payment like any other sale.
Limits
- Up to 20 held tickets per register at one store. If you hit the limit, resume or discard one before holding another.
- Held tickets are scoped to this device and register at that store. They are not shared across tablets, browsers, or checkout stations.

FAQs
Q: Does hold reserve stock? A: No. Stock is checked again when you resume and when you charge, same as a normal sale.
Q: Can another cashier resume my held ticket on their iPad? A: No. Holds are tied to the register key on the device where you held them.
Q: Will the kitchen start cooking while a ticket is on hold? A: No. Kitchen and fulfillment flows run only after you submit a real order through payment.
Q: What happens if I close the browser? A: Held tickets stay in this browser on this device. Open New Sale on the same store and browser and check the held tickets list. Clearing site data removes them.
